    Norwalk is a city in the state of Connecticut. It is located in Fairfield County. It is also within Connecticut’s Gold Coast and is within the Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk, Metropolitan Area. Norwalk has a population of about 85,603 people. This makes it the sixth largest city in Connecticut.

    Norwalk has multiple events throughout the year. One of these is the St. George Greek Orthodox Festival, which is held in late August. The festival features Pontic greek dance exhibit, greek delicacies, and a large carnival. Another event is, Round Hill Highland Games, which is a festival of Scottish culture. It was started in Greenwich, in 1923 but was interrupted during World War II, and then restarted back in 1952 and it has been held in Norwalk’s Cranbury Park. Now it happens around July 4th. Norwalk has many attractions. Some of these include, Maritime Aquarium, Norwalk Islands, The Mill Hill Historic Park and Museum and Norwalk Oyster Festival.

    There have been multiple full length movies and documentary films in Norwalk. They were either completely taking place in Norwalk or they were partially filmed. Old Dogs back in 2009, College Road Trip had scenes filmed in town in July of 2007 to other shooting locations where the Norwalk police headquarters building in Matthews Park, Revolutionary Road, The Life Before Her Eyes, and Satan’s Little Helper as well as The Stepford Wives. Some of the TV shows that were in Norwalk include, House of Dark Shadows, was a 1970 TV series, and To All My Friends On Shore, which was a made for TV movie in 1972.

    Baseball and softball are both popular in Norwalk. They are amateur with active leagues across many different age groups in Norwalk. There are four different baseball fields and 16 Little League fields throughout the city. Several of these are illuminated for nighttime play. In 1952 the Norwalk Little League Team won the Little League World Series. In 2008 the 14 year old Babe Ruth League team won the championship. Because Norwalk is a coastal city there are many different water sports. Recreational boating and fishing, windsurfing, and kayaking. Competitive swimming is another sport. The inner Norwalk Harbor and the Norwalk River hold rowing organizations and events.
