Allentown is a city located in the state of Pennsylvania. It is located in Lehigh County. Allentown is Pennsylvania’s third most populous city. It is the 224th largest city in the United States. The population in Allentown is about 118,032 people. Allentown is the fastest growing city in Pennsylvania. In April of 2016 Allentown was named a ‘national success story’ by the Urban Land Institute, for its transformation and redevelopment. Allentown is only on of six different communities in the county that have been named this.
Allentown holds historical significance as the location where the Liberty Bell was hidden successfully from the British during the American Revolutionary War.

Mayfair Festival of the Arts, is an arts and crafts festival that was established in 1986. It is held each May at Cedar Beach Park. The Great Allentown Fair runs yearly. It happens in early September, and is located on the Allentown Fairgrounds. It has been held there since 1889. The first Allentown Fair was held back in 1852. Between 1852 and 1899 it used to be held at the “Old Allentown Fairgrounds”, which was located just north of Liberty Street between 5th and 6th streets. The Collegiate Marching Band Festival, is held yearly since 1995 at the J. Birney Crum Stadium. There are other marching band festivals and competitions held here as well.
